Welcome!
Communication has evolved drastically over the last 100 years. My great-grandparents and my grandparents wrote letters to friends and family near and far. My parents shared weekly updates with family over the phone on the weekends when long-distance calling was free. I exchanged notes in between classes with my girlfriends in high school and conversed online in AOL chat rooms. In college I texted and emailed and by my Senior year, Facebook was introduced to those of us with college email addresses.
Today, Joel and I have family scattered all over the country so naturally the best way to communicate and keep up on each other's lives has been through social media outlets like Facebook. Over the years, however, the negative energy on Facebook has been so overwhelming that it has created unnecessary stress in my life. The ads, celebrity gossip, sh*t talk, click bait, and biased news are taking over the beautiful moments shared by my friends and family that I don't want to miss out on ... graduations, engagements, weddings, babies, first steps, job promotions, bountiful gardens and landscapes, new places traveled, and anything else the Universe has blessed us with. While I've made the mindful decision to disconnect (not indefinitely) from Facebook, I feel more connected to my daily life than ever before. Instead of reaching for my phone at night, I'm reaching for the latest book I can't put down or a blanket that I'm crocheting or snuggling with my hubby on the couch which we binge on Netflix. I no longer feel guilty for not clicking "like" on a picture that someone has posted or commenting on someone's recent post because I'm not on it 24/7. I feel free from the Facebook shackles to live in the present moment and it's been such a positive decision. I'll still check in from time to time but it's no longer a necessity or a habit.
I've tossed around the idea of starting a blog for many years now but didn't know what direction to take it in. I'm finally choosing to communicate on my own terms and give you a hodgepodge of me ... crafts, baking, crystals, music, and Buysse adventures. I invite you to please join me on this positive journey, it's about to get exciting!
Love and Light,
Carrie
